Trading with the Bulls

Posted by Techboy on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

I have always wanted to find an easy, quick gain, low risk – high reward entry into the stock market. Until recently that seemed impossible, but now I think I might have found it… I am a self-confessed geek (hence the nick-name ‘Techboy’ – which Steve Bush at Barclays Bank PLC originally gave me). Before [...]

Introductory Winter Mountaineering Course (February 2011) – Update on Costs

Posted by Techboy on Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

The worst part of going on holiday is planning them! In my previous post I detailed the projected costs of the travel for the mountaineering course that I’m going on. After literally quite a few hours of fiddling on www.thetrainline.com, various hotel companies (including www.lastminute.com, www.expedia.com. etc.) and www.quidco.com I have revised my travel plans to [...]

Posted by Techboy on Friday, June 11th, 2010

I currently have an HTC HD (running Windows Mobile 6.1 OS) on the O2 network and my contact expires at the end of this month, which means that I can get a new phone. My preferences for a new phone fall into 3 categories: Android based, iPhone 4 and Windows Phone 7 based. Android I [...]

Questars Adventure Race 4 of 4 – 5th September 2009 – Cotswold Hills, Worcstershire

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Unfortunately I am going to miss this race because Steve wasn’t sure if he could attend it, due to his current work situation – he might be in Singapore on this date and it’s a bit far to pop back to England just for a race. The upside is that due to puncture issues on [...]

Questars Adventure Race 3 of 4 – 18th July 2009 – Pewsey, North Wiltshire

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Another early start as we headed over to St. Francis School, Pewsey in North Wiltshire for round 3 (of 4) of the 2009 Questar’s Adventure Race series. Once again it was a nice location with great scenery and lots of hills! I had forgotten to take my Camelbak with me (I’d left it at home) [...]

Well Whad’ya Know? I’m a Triathlete!

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Well I’ve done 1 anyway. As stated in my previous posts, by way of winning a prize in a competition, I got free entry into the For Goodness Shakes! Sponsored Sprint Triathlon (750m swimming, 20km cycling, 5km running) at Dorney Lake, Eton with less than 2 weeks notice! I read the letter carefully which stated [...]

For Goodness Shakes! Sprint Triathlon – it’s tomorrow!

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

As I mentioned in my previous post, I won free entry into the For Goodness Shakes Sprint Triathlon and was only given 2 weeks notice. So I have been swimming in the Stantonbury 25m swimming pool on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and discovered that I’m not a great swimmer. In fact I only managed to [...]

Questars Race 2 – 30 May 2009 – Brecon Beacons, South Wales

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Race 2 was held in the Brecon Beacons at a slightly different location to the place last year. Last year I competed with Dave in the 5 hour version and Steve did it on his own (6 hour version). This time I teamed up with Steve and we did the Masters trio (6 hours, 3 [...]

Questars Race 1 – 28 March 2009 – New Forest, Hampshire

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

I entered Race 1 of the 2009 Questars Adventure Race with Steve. We entered the 6 hour Questars Trio format as mens pair team, so it was mountain biking, running and kayaking. The morning started off very cold. I looked around and I was the only person in shorts and t-shirt, so I nipped over [...]

Entered my first 10k Running Event (Bradford 29/03/2009)

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I’ve just registered for what will be my first 10k running event. It will be in Bradford on the 29th March. http://www.epilepsy.org.uk/involved/bradford10k.html It’s a long way to go, but my friend Emma is doing it (her first ever running event) so I’m going for moral support

I did it (Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon 2008)!

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Yesterday I ran the Adidas Silverstone half marathon in a time of 1:50:59 – which for my first half-marathon I am very happy with! What’s more, I know I could have easily been 5 – 10 mins faster if I wasn’t held up so much at the start by slower runners in front of me.

Running the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon Tomorrow!

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

This time tomorrow I will be running my first half-marathon (13.1 miles / 21.098 kilometers). I’m looking forward to it although I do feel a little under-prepared because: I haven’t run 13 miles before (max I have run recently is about 6) I’ve been on a training course for the past week – so no [...]
