Getting Ready for the next 2 Weekends of Adventure Racing!
During the last race I did (Ace Race round 2), the handlebars on my bike alsmost fell off and were being held in by just 1 of the 2 screws! The other screw thread was stripped so was impossible to fix on the day, so I had to keep stopping (briefly) to tighten the 1 screw.
A few days after I got home, I took the handlebar stem to Evans Cycles who told me that it would cost £60 to get the one thread repaired (helixed)! Leaving the shop very disatisfied I told my dad, who then got an engineer he knows to get it repaired for free – result!
The engineer did a really good job. I fitted it tonight and all is well again. I’ll clean and oil the bike tomorrow to make it race-ready.
This Saturday (30th October), Dave and Steve will be joining me on the Ace Race round 3 of 3. This round is in Queen Elizabeth Country Park in South Downs. It looks nice in these photos – although rather hilly!
On Sunday 7th September (the day before I turn 30 – if I make it!) Dave and I will be competing in the 6 hour Dark and White ‘Skins 6 in the Peak‘ event. Which will be starting at the New Mills Football Club in North Derbyshire.
